Day 24. Tuesday 25th August 1970 – Turkey

Early start left our camping spot, after filling all the water container, about 06:00hrs. Reached Istanbul two hours later and found the ferry without too much difficulty. The ferry cost just under £2 with about a foot to spare in height. A few miles outside Istanbul we stopped for breakfast. We had two more short stops before we eventually stopped for the night 180 miles from Ankara. The last of these two stops we managed a swim and tea.

The weather was hot and sunny all day.

At last we are out of Europe, a bit further than Cliff Richard got – felling proud.
