Day 28. Saturday 29th August 1970 – Turkey to Iran

Five-o-clock start with Ian driving. The Tahir Gecidi Pass 8211ft was not as bad as we had anticipated. We stopped for breakfast about 70 miles away from the border.

There was no difficulty at either of the border post even though the official at the Iranian customs made a more thorough inspection of our food and equipment.

We camped for the night just over the border earlier than normal, due mainly to putting our watches forward about an hour and a half and relief because we managed to talk our way through the border without insurance.

The weather was warm with sunny intervals and occasional showers.
